Cleansing VS Charging your Crystals
It’s that time of the month again!
Full Moon time! This one is in Aries at that, which I am, so I’ve really been loving this energy lately. But anyway, back on subject…
Cleansing VS Charging Crystals:
I hear more often then not, this misunderstanding of using the full moon for cleansing your crystals. What you are actually doing when putting your crystals in the window or outside on the night of the full moon is CHARGING THEM.
Whether in the moon light or sun light, this gives your crystals a vamp or boost in energy that will revs up their ability to be felt, assist in healing, grid work, good vibes and such. Crystals have a natural, innate oscillation at a higher frequency, but they can get “quieter” or go into what I resemble as a hibernation when left alone. This happens if stored in a box, or dark corner, or just sitting on a shelf for any length of time. They really love being in the sun or moon light, to be kissed with natural light frequencies that surely bring them “back to life”.
So yes, give them all the moon and sun baths you feel necessary! But – keep in mind that some of your crystals, like Amethyst and Citrine, Rose Quartz and Aventurine, will become sun bleached if you leave them out in the sun OR moon light too long. Yes, the moon can even do this (have you ever heard of a moon burn?!). A few hours in the morning sun, if choosing this route, is best. Morning sun is less harsh or hot, leaving less chance of this fading to occur. As for the moon light, over night is fine, but be sure to bring them in in the morning.
Now lets get the subject of “Cleansing” Crystals, crystal clear, ok?! 😉
First of all, Crystals don’t REALLY need cleansing like you think of cleansing, unless of course they are literally dusty or dirty. More so, what you are assisting them to do with the intention of cleansing is actually RESETTING or RETUNING. You’re giving them a reset or retune to their natural DOR (thats the innate higher oscillation I mentioned above). To assist a crystal in a retune I suggest “cleansing” them with sage smudge or spray (I offer an awesome spray here), a salt bath, flower petals, running them under running water i.e. river, ocean, stream, or the trusty faucet is fine, just make sure they’re not crystals that have a adverse reaction to water. Sound bathing them with singing bowls, tuning forks or a drum even works great!
The need to retune crystals would arrive when they have been used a lot, dropped, chipped, broken, or put through some other kind of trauma. Also you may want to reset a crystal that you had once programmed for a specific job, like in a crystal grid or healing a specific need. I recommend, if you’re not sure of how often you should do this to just go with your gut, or once a every couple weeks, which ever feels good to you. If you have used them on clients like I do, definitely reset them after each client, before using them on yourself or anyone else. You can ask yourself, or the Crystals as well. I always like to error on the side of caution since I use my Crystals so often. If its been a while, it never hurts to give them the ole one-two-rinseroo.
I hope this clears things up for you and helps make more sense of this process! If you have any questions or comments, please do share them below. <3
